Are you are thinking about moving for Secondary Schools for your offspring? March will see the choices of many London children being raised or dashed. If you want to make a move before you have to face secondary school choices in London, Chigwell, Loughton and Woodford have some great secondary school options.
Picking the right school for your child is a difficult decision where ever you live but inner cities come with a whole host of other struggles for teenagers. Moving just out of London to the leafy areas of Woodford, Chigwell or Loughton can bring some peace of mind to parents.
One of the highly recommended secondary schools worth investigating in the Woodford, Loughton and Chigwell area is Bancroft’s. Even if you are just starting to look for a new place to raise a family taking a look at schools in an area can help you make up your mind. Bancrofts like most schools hold open mornings and evenings for you to meet staff and pupils and take a look at the fantastic facilities. Open Days tend to be held during the summer and autumn terms.'
Bancroft’s School was first set up in Mile End in London on what is now the site of the Queen Mary University of London. At first, it was just boys who were admitted but now it is co-ed. The site at Mile End was tricky for the school during the mid-19th century and the school moved to Tottenham before Bancroft’s finally moved to its present locations at Woodford Wells in 1889.
In Woodford, Bancroft’s became part day, part boarding and by the turn of the century, the numbers of day boys had risen to 225. They came from a wide area, many taking advantage of the Great Eastern railway, now the Central Line which still serves the area of Chigwell, Loughton and Woodford. Make sure you have checked out the best secondary schools in or around Chigwell if you are thinking of making the move.
